Project outcomes will be the following:

• a high resolution climatology of winds and waves in the Mediterranean
• a study of the impact of weatherrouting on Mediterranean routes
• a prototype of weatherrouting service in the Mediterranean.

If weatherrouting succeeds, it will be possible to:

• plan routes in a more accurate way
• save fuel and oil, with a clear impact on the part of the environment affected by navigation
• increase security, as a consequence of the improved accuracy in forecasting weather and sea in key hazardous regions.
